The client is a global Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management firm that provides project solutions to numerous The company has approximately 70,000 employees in more than 120 offices dispersed around the world.


As a global engineering firm, with multiple offices across the country, it became critical to improve communication and collaboration among its multiple business units, engineering disciplines and project sites. the lack of a formal information architecture resulted in the inability for users to quickly and easily find and share relevant data. Every team site looked and operated differently creating inefficiencies and information. To address this challenge, the company needed common navigation, both global and local, and site templates for its architecture disciplines, strategic business units, management teams and other teams within the company.


Migrating this Portal Solutions was able to standardize the look and feel across team sites and provide tighter guidelines on how to best use SharePoint. This included using common site templates for the architecture disciplines, strategic business units, and management, and team sites for information sharing and collaboration. Four common site templates were created with business-specific metadata elements. Portal Solutions worked with the client’s team to implement global navigation, local navigation, metadata and site templates. The Portal Solutions team also advised on the physical and logical architecture for the SharePoint 2013 farm.
